Levet Brown enters his third season as the Head Coach and Athletic Director for the Kima Hawks. Originally from Washington DC, Levet played for Ballou High School before moving to Yokota Air Force Base, Japan. In his senior year at Yokota High School, Levet was named to the All Far East team and voted most valuable player of the prestigious Far East Basketball Tournament. Levet went on to attend Texas Christian University before finishing his college career at Oregon Tech University where he was named to the all defensive team. His coaching career began as an assistant at Oregon Tech. At Oregon Tech, Levet was assistant to Danny Miles, who is the winningest coach in the Northwest, with an average of 22 wins per season. Kamit Institute Hawks have developed into one of the top programs in the DC area with solid teams that travel to play outside competition on a yearly basis. “Playing in other venues gives our players a chance to compete at higher levels and allows coaches to see them on a different stage, I think this has helped our players who desire to go on and play at the next level”. Built upon a solid foundation of quality student athletes, the Hawks combine a stingy man to man defense with an up-tempo offense to play a style of basketball that is fun to play and fun to watch. With all the success of the teams he has coached, Levet feels like the greatest success is what the players do off of the court. “It is important that players get along with each other and build relationships that will allow them to be successful in all aspects of their lives.” Many players continue on at college programs with 15 Hawks players currently enrolled and playing at colleges and universities in Levet's three years at the Hawk helm.

Levet feels that strong defense is a key to winning. “I work extensively on the defensive end of the court and feel that is a strength which I bring to Kamit Institute. I love to see a great defensive team and look to build that type of program with the Hawks.”

“I am enjoying working here at Kamit Institute. I sense a very good feeling between the coaches and the administration. The desire to win is high but the value of the game will not be compromised in order to win. I hope that I can develop teams that will compete on the court and in the classroom. I expect my players to go to class and graduate on time with high g.p.a’s.

In addition to his experience at Kamit, Levet coached at Oregon Tech University under Coach Dan Miles. “My time at Oregon Tech was very valuable because of the time spent in the film room learning about game preparation and the importance of video and a player’s progress. Oregon Tech was very competitive and won at least 22 games a year, winning several conference championships and advancing in the national stage on several occasions.

Levet enjoys his role as the Hawks head coach. He is also busy in his favorite role as President of the Laurel Boys and Girls Club. Levet’s career is a Howard County Firefighter Emergency Medical Technician. Levet is also the father of four and married to Cindi Brown. “I’ve got a wonderful wife and she does a great job as mom and supporter of my volunteer work. Cindi has been very supportive over our twelve years together. “Cindi is busy with her many roles as Mom and is very involved in her job with the United States Senate.
